Airport Departure Taxes

Airport departure taxes are collected beforehand and are added to your flight cost. For Nepal and Maldives they are payable locally at the time of departure.

Luggage

Luggage allowance varies from airline to airline, but 20kg is good guide for the International flights and the domestic flights within India and Nepal.  The hand baggage should not be more then 10kgs.

Health

There are no mandatory requirements to visit India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Dubai except an International certificate for yellow fever, on arrival in India, if you have visited an infected area within 6 days of arrival. We recommend you consult your doctor about the immunisation and inoculation.  In general the following immunisation is recommended before visiting India, Nepal and Sri Lanka: Cholera, Typhoid, Polio, Tetanus and Hepatitis. Meningitis immunisation is recommended for Nepal.  It is also advised to take prophylactics against Malaria from time to time. For current information on health advise you may visit the Medical Advisory Services for Travellers Abroad website www.masta.org or tel: 0906 822 4100.

Money

We suggest you carry your money in Sterling traveller’s cheques for security. Major hotels, shops and banks readily exchange these. All International airports have 24 hour banking facilities. Most hotels, shops and restaurants accept major credit cards. Currency Exchange Certificates issued must be retained to facilitate re-exchange on departure, which is only possible at Airport Banks.

Voltage

The electric voltage in the Indian sub continent is 220 volts.  Most of the British appliances work well in the sub continent but a universal adaptor is needed.

Food & Drink

Eating out on the roadside is not advised. When outside your hotel avoid ice and water. Only drink bottled mineral water and check the bottle is properly sealed.
